Chelsea Transfer Roundup: £80m for Bailey, Nathan Ake return, Kovacic update

The biggest news coming out of the Chelsea camp in recent days is of the course the departure of Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid last week. With a two-window transfer ban already in place, it should be a quiet couple of months in west London, but there is still a chance it may be overturned, meaning the Blues may be busy this summer after all. Here’s a quick look at the latest transfer gossip involving Chelsea…

Bailey in to replace Hazard

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking at Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey to help fill Hazard’s void but the Jamaican international would reportedly cost £80million. Despite an overall difficult season in the Bundesliga, the 21-year-old showed signs of his huge potential in the second-half of the campaign with three goals in his last nine Bundesliga appearances.

Chelsea cool on Kovacic

Chelsea are getting cold feet over signing Mateo Kovacic permanently according to the London Evening Standard. The Croatian has spent the last year on loan from Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge without really setting the world alight. The £50m valuation placed on the player by the Spanish club has left the Blues unlikely to want to pursue the player.

Ake eyed for return

The Blues are also interested in bringing back former youth player Nathan Aké to the club from Bournemouth this summer, according to the Sun. However, they face strong competition from Tottenham who also have their eyes on the £40million-rated Dutch defender.
