Chelsea Transfer Roundup: Mount contract news, Atletico to bid for Morata, Musonda loan

Yesterday’s Chelsea transfer roundup contained the confirmation of Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager, Championship interest in a 19-year-old midfielder and news on the future of a Croatian. Today’s edition features contract developments for an England U21 international, the potential departure of a striker and the confirmed loan exit of a Belgian.

Mount contract news

According to the Sun, the Blues want to get Mason Mount tied down to a new long-term contract before the squad flies out to their pre-season tour of Japan. The report states that it is Lampard himself who has ordered his superiors to get the deal done.

Atletico want to keep Morata

The Telegraph is reporting that Atletico Madrid are lining up a bid for Alvaro Morata to avoid the 26-year-old going back to Stamford Bridge this summer. Chelsea had previously informed Los Rojiblancos that they would be ready to cancel the Spaniard’s loan deal if the La Liga side did not make the move permanent during this transfer window.

Musonda loaned to Vitesse

Chelsea have confirmed that Charly Musonda will rejoin Vitesse Arnhem on loan for the 2019/20 campaign. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with the Dutch club but made just one Eredivisie appearance due to injury.
