Whilst most teams are looking at bringing in new players, Chelsea are unable to do so this summer due to their two-window transfer ban. The main news surrounding the club is in regards to the manager position, with current boss Maurizio Sarri on the verge of a move to Juventus.
According to Tuttosport, the arrival of Rafa Benitez at Chelsea could be imminent as they look to replace the outgoing Italian. The former Liverpool manager has already had one spell at Stamford Bridge, winning the Europa League in 2013, and is a realistic target for the Blues with his contract in the North-East running out at the end of this season.
Guedes bid made
Despite their transfer ban, Chelsea have made an offer for Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes through agent Jorge Mendes, according to Plaza Deportivo. The €70m (£62.3m) bid was however turned down by the La Liga side as his release clause is €300m (£267m). Guedes has impressed at Valencia and scored the winning goal for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday against the Netherlands.
Aina moves to Serie A
Roman Abramovich’s side do have one completed deal, although it is a departure rather than an arrival. Torino president Urbano Cairo has claimed the club have signed right-back Ola Aina on a permanent basis for €10m (£8.9m) following the Nigerian’s season-long loan in Italy. Official confirmation of the departure awaits however.
