Chelsea are set to look elsewhere after PSG made an offer for transfer target Edinson Cavani, according to The Daily Mail.

The Premier League side will now turn their attention to Wayne Rooney and Robert Lewandowski, instead of entering a bidding war for the Uruguayan.

PSG's bid of £43million is still £11m short of Cavani's release clause, and Napoli's asking price for the forward. The striker has reportedly also spoken to Manchester City this summer, only for the talks to quickly end.

Chelsea don't want to enter a bidding war with the French club, who won the Ligue 1 title last season. The side, owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, can easily contest with Roman Abramovich in the transfer window, which has led to the Russian ending his interest in Cavani.

However their new targets come with their own complications too. Chelsea are unsure whether Manchester United would be willing to sell their star striker to a rival, with Barcelona, PSG and Monaco also reportedly interested in the Englishman.

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski looks destined for a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. The Polish striker agreed to join the side last summer, and is keen to secure his move to the Allianz Arena.

Which striker should Chelsea sign? Is there someone else they should look at?
