Chelsea want Portuguese starlet

Sporting Lisbon's Bruma

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to Portuguese winger Bruma this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old has been on the radar of Premier League rivals Manchester City, after impressing playing for Sporting Lisbon.

Bruma is on international duty with Portugal for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, where he has scored five goals in just three appearances. The winger made 13 first team appearances last season, scoring once for the side that finished 7th in the league table.

And Mourinho is keen to sign Bruma now, before Manchester City bid for the youngster. The Portuguese manager had recommended his fellow countryman to Real Madrid, before departing Los Blancos for Stamford Bridge.

And Bruma’s performances at the Under-20 World Cup are certain to raise the interest in the 18-year-old, making Mourinho keen to bid for the winger as soon as possible.

The 18-year-old has one year left on his contract at Sporting, and the club are ready to cash in after Bruma confirmed he had no intention to sign a new deal with the club.

Bruma is unlikely to formally talk about his future until after the Under-20 World Cup, which could make Chelsea wait until the 13th of July, which is the date of the final, should Portugal get there. They must first beat Ghana Under-20 on July 3rd in the last 16.

Would Bruma do well in the Premier League? Who should he join, Chelsea or City?
