Napoli do not want to sell star striker Edinson Cavani for any price below £54million, according to the Independent.
The Blues have already bid £42.8million PLUS Fernando Torres for Cavani, but Napoli rejected the offer. The Italian club want their full asking price in cash if they are to sell their prize asset.
Cavani scored 29 goals in just 33 league appearances for Napoli last season, as well as seven Europa League goals from seven matches. The Uruguayan has only just completed his third season with the Naples side, but he has scored over 100 goals for the club in all competitions.
Chelsea were set to fight Manchester City for the forward, but last season’s league runners-up have pulled out of the race after also being told to pay £54m.
Napoli rejected an offer from Chelsea that would see Torres move to the Italian side, and reunite with manager Rafa Benitez. The Spaniards have worked together at Liverpool and Chelsea, but it seems they won’t be together again in Italy.
It has raised more questions over Torres’ future at Stamford Bridge, after the offer suggested the Blues are prepared to sell him this summer.
Would Cavani succeed in the Premier League? Should Chelsea pay the £54million?
