Chelsea are worried that Thibaut Courtois may push to leave the club this summer and are already lining up Southampton’s Fraser Forster as a potential replacement, according to reports from the Mirror.
The Blues, barring a late miracle, will not be in any form of European competition in 2016/17 after putting up a limp defence of their Premier League title, which will make them a less attractive proposition to top players, even with Antonio Conte in as manager.
Courtois himself has already confessed that he could move on in a few months’ time, and reports claim that the Londoners are so anxious about the situation that Forster is already being assessed.
The England international has been a huge hit since moving south of the border from Scottish giants Celtic in 2014, and is considered to be among the Premier League’s best goalies given his performances for the Saints.
The 28-year-old has rediscovered his top form since coming back from a troublesome knee injury, and Chelsea’s scouts are assessing him even though Asmir Begovic remains at Stamford Bridge.
