BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has said in his Team of the Week column that Callum Hudson-Odoi looked "back to his best" against Newcastle United on Saturday.

What did he stay?

The Blues beat the Toon Army 1-0 thanks to a Marcos Alonso goal, and it was 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi who provided the assist for the Spain international's strike. It was an overall positive display from the 5 foot 8 winger.

Crooks included him in the best Premier League XI of the weekend, and explained his decision: "I don't know what Frank Lampard is serving these youngsters for breakfast at Stamford Bridge but it certainly seems to be working.

"The latest protege to find himself back in the limelight is Callum Hudson-Odoi. I selected Hudson-Odoi in my team last season before he got injured but against Newcastle he looked back to his best."

Scary

Hudson-Odoi has hit the ground running since returning from the Achilles injury he suffered in April of this year. In his first five appearances of the season, he has one goal and four assists, and has been directly involved in the first strike in the last two Premier League games Chelsea have played.

Crooks says he is looking back to his best, but the scary thing for opposing teams is we have no idea what his 'best' actually is yet.

He has been included in the starting XI in the last two Premier League matches, and that is already half of the longest run he has had in the initial line-up in the top tier to date. He burst onto the scene in the past campaign, but that damaging injury came just as he was entering his stride and as such, he has had to start all over again this term.

This is just the start for the England international and, right now, the sky is the limit. There is currently no ceiling as to how far he can go, and we don't really have any idea of just how good he can be. Considering he has been involved in at least one goal in every game he has played so far this term though, the future looks very bright for Hudson-Odoi and, as such, the Chelsea team as a whole.
