Frank Lampard spoke of his happiness for Christian Pulisic after he played what his manager believed was an important role in securing a 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
What did he say?
The Chelsea boss hasn't been afraid to use his young players so far this season, but new signing Pulisic is one who may not have expereinced the kind of game time he was hoping for after making the £58m switch from Borussia Dortmund.
He has featured on occasion and Lampard has been careful bedding him in, but against the Magpies he showed his quality and now his manager has something to think about, with Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi also in good recent form.
Given his price tag and reported £145,000-a-week wages, and the reputation he built through good performances in Germany, there is some expectation on the USA international to deliver, which Lampard acknowledges, but he is confident in his ability.

Speaking after the Newcastle win, as reported by The Daily Mail, he said: "Everyone has got a little bit carried away with the short term. The long term is that he's come here and he's just turned 21 and he's played like he did today. You can see his balance and awareness and you can see how he can play.
"There's a lot more to come. It's not the end of the story. There's improvement to come as with all the young players, but I'm delighted for him because he will feel good about that.
"And he should do, because he was a big part of us winning that game."
Strength in depth
Chelsea are in a very good position now in terms of personnel and the results they have picked up.
Lampard has begun to solve the defensive issues which plagued them in the first few weeks of the season with only one goal conceded in their last three Premier League games, whilst maintaining their attacking potency.
On Saturday the Magpies made things very difficult for them, and stopped the threat of Hudson-Odoi, Willian and Tammy Abraham, despite their best efforts.
Fortunately for the Blues they were able to bring on Pulisic, who offered a different dimension to the attack due to his intelligence and awareness.
That allowed him to run in behind and at the Newcastle defence, first supplying the ball which resulted in Marcos Alonso's winner, as well as teeing up Abraham for a golden opportunity with his effort blocked by DeAndre Yedlin with the goalkeeper beaten.
His impact shows the quality Lampard has at his disposal and his ability to switch things up, and the praise of his manager should give him the confidence and belief that he will be able to not only succeed in his side, but become an important player for the Blues.
As a result, he should build on this performance and begin adding to the Chelsea attack through goals and assists.
