The summer of 2018 will go down in history as one of England’s finest.
Everything just felt so right. The sun was beaming down, the barbeques were burning, the beer was flowing, and the Three Lions were slowly crawling their way towards their first World Cup semi-final since 1990.

We beat Tunisia by the skin of our teeth, swatted Panama like they weren’t even there (probably because they weren’t), lost to Belgium (can’t win them all), won a penalty shootout against Colombia, showed Sweden how to shutout an opponent, and were eventually stopped in our tracks by Croatia (*cough* Harry Kane *cough*).
Preparations are now underway for England’s next shot at a major trophy, Euro 2020, and if Times journalist Henry Winter’s comments are anything to go by, next year could well be the year football finally comes home.
In short, Winter notes that the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling are forming a bond, defensive options are aplenty, and Chelsea’s Mason Mount, who has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League, is performing equally as well on the international stage, albeit in a training environment…
??????? 'This is a team that could DEFINITELY win something'
Semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup ?
What next for England? ?@henrywinter thinks Gareth Southgate's England are on the verge of something special.
