At 38 years of age, Willy Caballero is approaching the end of his career.

It has been a profession that took him from his homeland of Argentina to Spain and then Manchester City in 2014. Now currently at Chelsea, he is deputy to Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is Frank Lampard's undisputed number one. He has won a host of trophies as well, including the Olympic Gold medal in 2004.

Since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2017, he has made just 24 appearances in all competitions. However, he has recently told AS (via Sport Witness) that he is enjoying life in London with Chelsea.

With his contract up at the end of the season though, he has said that he would like to return to Spain.

That, of course, would leave the Blues with a spot open in regards to their second-choice goalkeeper. That position could have been taken by Marcin Bulka, but he moved to PSG in the summer. The side from SW6, though, potentially have a ready-made replacement who is out on loan.

Nathan Baxter is currently out injured at Ross County in Scotland, which is a huge shame considering his form last season. Whilst with Yeovil Town in League Two, he won the team's Player of the Season award. Despite finishing bottom of the Football League, they conceded less than five other sides in the division. In the 34 games he played in the league, they conceded 45, compared to 21 in 11 without him. That is a ratio of 1.3 goals per game shipped with him, and 1.9 without.

Even at just 20 years of age, he has over 100 senior appearances - as per Transfermarkt - under his belt. Given his age, he would be perfectly-placed to deputise for Kepa, especially considering Frank Lampard's focus on youth so far this term which has seen the likes of Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham be selected for the England squad.

With him already being on their books, it would also stop them spending money on a back-up option.

Should he impress in the Scottish Premiership, he could be perfectly-placed to replace Caballero should he exit the club.
