The second half of Super Sunday is almost ready to go with Southampton playing host to Chelsea at St. Mary’s.
The Blues know they need to grab a win here if they are to keep pace with their title rivals after yesterday’s results. The three league leaders, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all won their away games and all scored four goals as they stretched their lead at the top to three points over fourth-placed Spurs.
The Lilywhites could only muster a draw at home to Leicester City and so should Chelsea win today, they’ll go into the top four, a point behind the table-topping trio.
In their way stand a Southampton side who look like a real force under Claude Puel now. That early, stuttering form this season is a thing of the past and the Saints look capable of giving anyone in the division something to think about.
They drew away at Man City last time out and were very good value for that point, too. Similar levels will be expected against the Blues, then, and the two line-ups for this one have just been announced:
