Conte set for huge transfer u-turn, will save Chelsea millions

According to reports from The Times, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is considering abandoning his plans to sign another central midfielder after taking a look at youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The 20-year-old is rated as one of the west London outfit’s most exciting youngsters, having already made 21 appearances at first-team level and represented England 35 times between the U16 and U21 age groups.

He struggled to hit the heights expected last season, despite registering 13 outings in the Premier League, but fresh managerial appointment Antonio Conte sees enormous potential in the 6 foot 3 midfielder.

In fact, the Blues boss is so convinced by Loftus-Cheek that he’s reportedly ready to shelve plans to sign a box-to-box midfielder in order to make room for the youngster in his squad next season.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of centre-mids this summer, not least including Roma’s Radja NainggolanValencia’s Andre Gomes and Zenit ace Axel Witsel. But investing in Loftus-Cheek will save Conte a small fortune in the transfer market.
