New Blues boss Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen to bring the midfielder with him from the Bernabeu, following his return to west London.
It has been speculated that he could have been successful in his pursuit, as the ex-Tottenham man had endured a miserable first campaign in Spain – in which he was voted as the worst signing of the La Liga season.
But, the 27-year-old says that he is happy at the Bernabeu, and determined to stay put:
“I’m not even thinking about the possibility I could leave Madrid this summer, but there is interest from other clubs.
“Every kid who plays football dreams about playing for Real Madrid. It was the same with me.
“Of course I was sad when Jose Mourinho left. He was the one who insisted in bringing me to Madrid.
“He is a fantastic coach and I am honoured to have worked with him.”
Modric moved to Real Madrid in a £30m deal last summer, following a fine stint in north London with Tottenham.
Although the midfield schemer won’t be joining his former coach at Chelsea, he has backed Mourinho to be a success:
“I wish him all the best in Chelsea. I believe he will use all his knowledge and expertise at Stamford Bridge once again.”
