Chelsea star Cesc Febregas is set to miss an additional two games, with his injury thought to be worse than initially expected, according to the Guardian.
Fabregas suffered a hamstring problem during the Blues’ Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool last week, which resulted in the consistent Spain international missing the weekend’s top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City.
But there seems to be a concern over the extent of the injury, and the former Arsenal midfielder could join Diego Costa – who was suspended for his alleged stamp of Liverpool’s Emre Can – on the sidelines in the upcoming games against Aston Villa and Everton.
Fabregas has been training alone the past few days, and looks unlikely to be risked until Chelsea’s Champions League round-of-sixteen clash against Ligue-1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
On the bright side, defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel is close to fully recovering from a head injury to play against Villa this weekend, with the Nigeria international training alongside £23.3million January signing Juan Cuadrado on Wednesday.
The injury to Fabregas could give Cuadrado the opportunity to make his Chelsea debut this weekend.
