David Luiz moving to Napoli is the key to Chelsea landing the Italian club's former manager Maurizio Sarri this summer, according to the Express.

Sarri plays the attractive football Roman Abramovich has always craved and that Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have moved to the forefront of English football; Chelsea appointing him would put them back in the title mix.

What's the story, then?

The report claims that despite Napoli appointing Carlo Ancelotti, Sarri is bizarrely still contracted to the Italian club and are using that to ask for Luiz to come the other way.

It goes on to say that Sarri has a £7m release clause but that could be waived if the proposed swap for Luiz - valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt -  goes ahead.

In light of reports that it could cost the Blues a substantial amount to sack Antonio Conte, the lack of fee paid to Sarri could prove pivotal in the deal.

Sarri is the attacking manager Chelsea need

Conte has done a good job, largely, at Chelsea and has won England's two biggest domestic trophies in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge but he is an intense, defensive coach.

To truly sate Roman Abramovich and also to compete at the sharp end of the Premier League, a modern, attacking approach is needed and Sarri looks the man best-equipped to provide that among the available managers this summer.

That means that the Luiz-Sarri swap is something of a no-brainer for Chelsea and that the outcasted Brazilian has suddenly become an unlikely prime candidate to get their title hopes back on track before a ball has even been kickd in the 2018/19 season.
