According to RMC Sport, David Luiz could be set to leave Chelsea this January and join European Champions Real Madrid

What's the Story?

Reports in France have suggested that David Luiz is keen on a move to Real Madrid after finding his playing time reduced at Stamford Bridge this season.

Following a rift with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte at the end of October, Luiz has found himself out of the playing squad on a number of occassions since.

While the Blues have played down any spat between player and manager, these reports suggest that Luiz is ready to move to pastures new.

How good has Luiz been this season?

It has been an inconsistent season for Luiz so far in 2017/18. The 30-year-old, who is valued at £27million by Transfermarkt has featured in 12 games for Chelsea, scoring twice and putting in pretty decent performances when selected.

However, his inability to reclaim his spot in the Blues side and the emergence of Andreas Christensen means that Luiz could be set to leave Stamford Bridge for the second time in five years.

Would Chelsea really consider letting Luiz leave?

Clearly an immensely popular figure with the fans and inside the dressing room, David Luiz would certainly be hugely missed in West London.

However, if reports are true and the Brazilian has fallen out with Antonio Conte, the club may need to take action in order to take a stand against unwarranted player power.

A move to Real Madrid would be a surprise but is far from unlikely.
