Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel says that he is “flattered” by reported interest from Chelsea.
The Blues are said to be monitoring the Dutch U-21 international, who has emerged as one of the nation’s greatest prospects over the course of the past year.
He is currently a part of the Holland squad for the European Championships, and has played a key role in the Oranje’s progression to the knock-out phase.
Chelsea have a solid relationship with Vitesse, which could play a major role in any deal and keep them ahead of any rival bidders.
Although he insisted that he is not currently thinking about his future, the 20-year-old says that he is pleased by the rumours:
“I am not thinking about it [Chelsea interest] right now, but I am really flattered by their interest.” He is quoted by Sky Sports via Algemeen Dagblad.
Van Ginkel has also appeared for the senior Dutch squad, and has featured over 100 times for VItesse, despite his youthful age.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also said to be keen on South American duo Hulk and Edinson Cavani.
New boss Jose Mourinho has earmarked the duo as his major summer targets, as he looks to embark on a spending spree to bolster his squad.
Could Marco van Ginkel be a hit at Stamford Bridge?
