Before the start of this season, there was a concern that Chelsea didn’t have enough quality up top in their squad.

The Blues had just lost their top scorer from last season, and they still hadn’t adequately replaced Diego Costa after Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain both flopped.

However, it hasn’t quite turned out that way as Tammy Abraham is currently the joint-highest scorer in the Premier League while Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud have both been in fine form for their respective national teams.

Giroud bagged twice for France during the international break, and that has led to some debate over his future at Stamford Bridge, despite only joining in January 2018 for £18m.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf reckons that Giroud should leave the London club if he wants to head to Euro 2020 with France.

“He needs to play more, maybe for another club,” Lebouef said.

It remains to be seen whether or not Giroud does depart Stamford Bridge in January, but with Abraham netting so regularly at the moment, it’s hard to see him getting the playing time he needs at Chelsea.
