Ex-Manchester City star urges club to sign Montenegro ace

Stevan Jovetic Fiorentina forwardFormer Manchester City defender Stefan Savic believes that the Sky Blues should look to sign his club and international team-mate Stevan Jovetic.

The Fiorentina attacker has been heavily linked with a summer switch to the Premier League, with Arsenal said to be highly interested.

But, Savic, who endured a tough spell at the Etihad Stadium prior to moving to Italy, believes that his former employers should be interested in the skilful front-man, who has been in fine form in Serie A this term:

“Jovetic can play for one of the top clubs. I hope he does because he is one of my closest friends.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

“I would recommend City to him. I think City’s a rising team, one of the best clubs in Europe. They will win trophies and be in the Champions League every year.”

Savic also believes that Jovetic would not suffer the same fate he did in England, due to having much more experience in one of the continent’s top leagues:

“It was hard for me there because I came straight from the Serbian league. I won a league title but, after one season, I knew I had to play regularly to improve as a player, so I left. It was my decision.

“It is different for Stevan. He has five years experience, he could play straight away with Sergio Aguero or Carlos Tevez.”

Jovetic has become one of the most sought after attacking players in European football in recent months, thanks to some impressive form this term with Fiorentina.

The 23-year-old has helped the Viola move up to fourth in Serie A, just one spot below the Champions League qualification zone.
