Expert – Chelsea rocked as top target rejects summer move, open to Man United switch

Roma midfielder Raja Nainggolan has turned DOWN a chance to join Chelsea this summer, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira.

The Belgian has been strongly mooted as the first major target of incoming boss Antonio Conte as the Italian plots a major overhaul in West London.

A tenacious midfield presence, talks were understood to be underway between the Blues and those behind the scenes in the Italian capital.

It’s been one of the most frequent tidbits of the burgeoning rumour mill, though Schira now claims the 28-year old has rejected the chance to join Conte at Stamford Bridge.

However, he also suggests that should an offer arrive from Manchester United, who ironically have just been taken over by former Blues chief Jose Mourinho, he would be open to the prospect of moving to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils themselves have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, though Nainggolan could prove to be a more dynamic option.
