Five January signings that would be perfect for Chelsea’s 3-4-3

Despite Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, it is hard not to have been impressed by Antonio Conte’s switch to a 3-4-3 formation that saw them go on a 13-match winning run in the Premier League prior to their loss at White Hart Lane.

Victor Moses had always been on the periphery of the Blues’ first team but him and summer signing Marcos Alonso have been excellent providing width to the midfield, as well as tracking back to help the three centre-backs when required.

While the likes of Gary Cahill and David Luiz have had their struggles during their top flight careers, the switch to the three-man defence certainly seems to have helped both of them improve their games.

The setup has brought the best out of two of the London outfit’s top stars – Eden Hazard and Diego Costa – but who could be brought in this month that would equally fit into Conte’s philosophy?
