John Terry is not getting any younger. The ex-England international is now 33-years-old, but it must be said that he's almost performing better than ever. However, the day will soon come when 'JT' will have to call it a day, and he must be replaced by Chelsea as he will leave a big hole after 16 years passing since his debut for The Blues.

Terry is a physical defender, but also a clever one - the next man in will have to be the same. It would also be beneficial for a young player to be brought in as his replacement and learn off of him for the final few years of his career.

But what options are available to Jose Mourinho? Well, he's five possibilities for 'The Special One'.

Tyrone Mings

Rumours have been circulating that Mourinho has been sending his scouts out to keep tabs on Tyrone Mings. The 21-year-old Ipswich defender is being watched by many of the Premier League's top clubs.

Mings is a 6'3" physical young Englishman, so he won't come cheap. He may have only just broken through at Ipswich, but he has all the attributes to be the next big thing and if Mourinho is willing to gamble a hefty amount of cash on the youngster, he could be the next 'JT'.

Joel Matip

Joel Matip

The Germany born Cameroonian international is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga for Schalke. Matip managed to break into the first team of one of Germany's greatest clubs aged just 18. His debut was against none other than Bayern Munich, a game in which he scored in an was named man of the match.

Since then Joel has become a regular name on the team sheet and is one of the brightest young centre-halves in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has represented his country over 25 times already. He's another athletic lad, and he stands at 6'4" - certainly a physical presence.

Schalke are far from being a world powerhouse in terms of money, and they would struggle to hold off the interest of Chelsea should they be interested.

Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma could certainly be considered the ideal replacement for John Terry, mainly because he's already with Chelsea and is currently learning from the ex-England captain already I'm sure.

The 20-year-old was signed by Mourinho on his return to the club and after a return spell on loan to St. Etienne, he's now featuring in the first-team plans at Stamford Bridge. Zouma is one of the most promising youngsters in world football, and at 6'3" he certainly fits the bill.

Perhaps Terry's replacement is already at Chelsea?

Raphael Varane

Varane

Another of the most promising youngsters in the game right now is Real Madrid's Raphael Varane. The 21-year-old is currently at one of the best clubs in world football too but Chelsea would have the money to pull him away.

The French international has already made 17 appearances for his country despite being so young and has also become a regular with the current Champions League holders.

There's no doubting that he will one day be considered one of the best defenders in the world, but whether Chelsea could prize him away from The Bernabeu is the key issue.

Gerard Pique

Pique

Youth may well not be the way forward if Chelsea want a direct and instant replacement. Pique is reaching the peak of his career and the 27-year-old has experienced the Premier League before, with Manchester United.

The 6'4" Spanish international is currently at Barcelona, but again Chelsea have the resources to pull him away if he's willing. With Kurt Zouma the man for the future, maybe the signing of Pique could sure things up in the Chelsea defence whilst he develops.

If Pique is looking for a new adventure, and if Shakira wants to spend some time in England, then Chelsea may be the right destination for him (and her).
