Indeed, both sides have enjoyed relatively strong starts to the season – they currently sit fourth and sixth respectively in the Premier League table – the duo each have a star striker in red hot form and both sides are amongst just four that have conceded less than a goal-per-game in the top flight.
Currently amid a four-match winning run in the league, in which they haven’t conceded a goal, the Blues are undoubtedly the favourites for this one, especially with home advantage on their side.
But Everton have proved tough customers under Ronald Koeman and claimed a bitter-fought point away at Manchester City in mid-October – surely the blueprint for Saturday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge.
