Frank Lampard says he wants to see out his career at Chelsea and it is down to him to earn another new deal at the club.
The midfielder has just ended all speculation over his future by penning a new one-year deal but he is already looking beyond that and wants to stay for even longer.
Lampard showed he can still perform at the highest level as Chelsea won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League and admits he will have to do that again next season if he is to earn another deal.
The midfielder remains Chelsea through and through and would clearly like to see out his days at Stamford Bridge rather than take up a lucrative offer from abroad.
“I want it to continue for as long as possible,” Lampard told the Evening Standard. “I signed a one-year extension but I’d love to be part of the next few years at Chelsea, developing the young players that we’ve seen come in this season.
“I’d love to show in the first six months of next season that I can carry on here. It’s down to me.”
