German clubs circle Chelsea wonderkid

Sell or loan a midfielder

Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is the subject of interest from a host of Bundesliga clubs, including Bayern Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, according to talkSPORT.

The young Belgian started the season in the first team picture, but has since found himself dropped by Jose Mourinho, and his immediate future being questioned.

Questions regarding his omission from Tuesday’s Champions League squad forced Mourinho to angrily walk out of his pre match press conference.

Mourinho has a host of attacking midfield options at his disposal, and has already come under fire for dropping Juan Mata from the first team this season.

The likes of Willian, Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Eden Hazard are also fighting for a place in the Chelsea midfield.

Weder Bremen have already publicly spoken of their desire to re-sign De Bruyne on loan, after the 22-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell there last season.

However they are set to face stiff competition from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Leverkusen and Wolfsburg.

Leverkusen – managed by former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia – attempted to sign the midfielder in the summer as part of the deal which saw Andre Schurrle move in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile Wolsfburg see De Bruyne as the ideal short-term replacement for the injured Portugal winger Vierinha.

De Bruyne’s father came out earlier in the week saying his son may well look to move on in January so he gets first team football ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
