Look away now Chelsea fans, as your infamous youth policy has been slammed by Hazard- but it’s fortunately not the one you’re thinking of.
Instead, it’s Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan who has stuck the knife into the Stamford Bridge side as the former Blues man, signed at the same time as his sibling, with Sky Sports quoting the Borussia Monchengladbach man as stating he never expected to stay at the club.
“I knew I would not stay at Chelsea when I signed for them. It was a great opportunity to join such a big club, but I knew I needed regular playing time to show what I could do.”
“Chelsea like to buy young players and then slowly get them ready. All the young players like Kevin De Bruyne, Charly Musonda and Romelu Lukaku were shipped out on loan. You need regular playing time at that age.”
“Maybe Chelsea now regret their decision not to give De Bruyne and Lukaku more chances, I don’t know.”
Chelsea’s stance on young players has been criticised in recent years, with the Blues incredibly having no fewer than 38 players on-loan this season, with the last youth graduate from their ranks to make a lasting impression in the first-team being John Terry.
Since leaving Chelsea, Hazard has become a star in his own right with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach and has been enjoying Champions League football this season.
