Chelsea’s season seemed to be resting on a knife-edge heading into Sunday’s game with Manchester United. The Blues had made an excellent start to the campaign by winning three matches on the spin, but defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Arsenal, which followed a draw at Swansea, prompted question marks over their title credentials. Even victories against Hull and Leicester City did little to quell such talk.
However, a 4-0 drubbing of Manchester United has somewhat eased concerns, moving the Blues up to fourth place in the division – just one point off the summit and a significant five points ahead of the Red Devils.
Although there were some great individual performances from Antonio Conte’s men, summer signing N’Golo Kante really stood out…
There were some worries surrounding how the Frenchman had settled at Stamford Bridge prior to kick-off, but the 25-year-old was really impressive in a box-to-box role, completing 88% of his passes, making five interceptions and creating two chances. Oh, and he scored a lovely goal, too.
