Alvaro Morata’s Chelsea career got off to a bright start. Following his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid – which cost the Blues somewhere in the region of £60 million – the Spanish striker hit 10 Premier League goals for his new club before the turn of the year.
In 2018, however, the goals dried up and Morata’s confidence evaporated. He was eventually usurped in the starting XI by January signing Olivier Giroud. Despite having opened his account already in this new season, Maurizio Sarri still seems to prefer the Frenchman over Morata.
At this stage it is beginning to feel as though a change of scene would be the best thing for Morata in order to help him rediscover his best form. Certainly, if he can’t get back to his best soon then Chelsea will be forced to have to seek a long term replacement for him.
Despite his current poor form, Morata remains a very talented striker. At only 25-years-old he still has plenty of time to return to the top of his game. Whether he’ll be able to do that at Stamford Bridge is doubtful though.

What do you think, Chelsea fans – do you have faith that given more time Morata can become the consistently prolific striker you need him to be, or has the time to cut your losses arrived already?
