Chelsea were amongst the Premier League's busier clubs during the January transfer window on both the inward and outward fronts - perhaps because the Blues are once again enduring another disappointing title defence.

Indeed, Ross Barkley, Olivier Giroud and Emerson Palmieri were all brought in at a combined cost of £48.51million, but more sceptical Chelsea supporters will argue none really improve Antonio Conte's starting XI - just the fringes of what is already a somewhat uninspiring squad.

Meanwhile, Diego Costa officially completed his move to Atletico Madrid, whereas Charly Musonda, Kenedy and the much-maligned Michy Batshuayi were amongst six young players allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.

So with the Costa transfer fee included, Chelsea managed to acquire three players while bringing in a total transfer surplus of £14.49million according to Transfermarkt. But, Blues supporters, do you see that as smart business or a missed opportunity to further spend?
