Alvaro Morata’s Chelsea career so far has hardly gone according to plan. Since joining the Blues from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, for a then-club record fee of around £60m, the striker has failed to become the prolific first choice centre-forward that the Premier League side needed to adequately replace Diego Costa.

In 61 appearances for the West London outfit, in all competitions, the 25-year-old has mustered just 19 goals, with more than half of those coming in the first half of his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

By the end of last season, many Blues fans had completely lost faith in Morata and hoped that new manager, Maurizio Sarri, would bring in a new first choice striker. Despite an attempt to sign Gonzalo Higuain - as reported by Football Italia - Chelsea failed to land a new frontman in the summer.

Sarri, therefore, went into his first campaign as Chelsea boss relying upon Morata to lead the line. However, the 25-cap Spain international soon lost his place in the starting XI to Olivier Giroud.

Recently, though, Morata looks to have returned to the kind of form he last enjoyed in his early days at Stamford Bridge. Three goals in his last four outings for the Blues may have restored a bit of hope and confidence to the striker, but in all likelihood it’s too little too late for him to salvage his long-term Chelsea career under Sarri.

What do you think, Blues fans - does Morata still have a future at the club?
