The Belgian, who is Eden’s brother, left the Blues over the summer, making his loan move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach a permanent deal.
Chelsea elected to sign the 22-year-old from Lens in 2012, but he failed to make a single competitive appearance for the club and was shipped out to Zulte Waregem and Gladbach.
His story echoes that of compatriot De Bruyne, who signed for Man City in a £50m+ deal during the last window after being sold by the London club for less than 50% of that fee just 18 months earlier.
The now Etihad Stadium star shone in German football with Wolfsburg, and Hazard has revealed that he’s looking to mirror his rise:
“I am trying to follow his path,” he told Sport Foot magazine (via talkSPORT).
“He was not wanted at Chelsea, but he resurfaced in Germany to become, by far, the best player in the Bundesliga last season. The Germans are crazy about him.
“He is the epitome of a player who has progressed steadily. Now he is at Manchester City.”
