Chelsea are not exactly struggling on the pitch this season given that they remain unbeaten in all competitions.

However, there is an area of the pitch that could do with an upgrade as Maurizio Sarri's current options are not hitting the right notes.

Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are the two main strikers at the manager's disposal, but neither are setting the world alight.

In fact, the pair have scored just one goal between them since the season kicked off.

For Chelsea to be a force across the board, they need a proven goalscorer who can be relied upon to contribute to the goal effort.

Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi is certainly one who the Blues should be looking at either in January or at the end of the season.

On Wednesday night, the 25-year-old scored the winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over PSV Eindhoven in a Champions League Group B encounter.

As well as finding the back of the net, Icardi was a nuisance up front as he peppered the goal with attempts and was heavily involved in the final third.

The Argentina international produced more shots than the rest of his teammates, but was also strong in the air.

Only Ivan Perisic won more aerial challenges than Icardi over the course of the match.

The striker's contract at the San Siro does not expire until the summer of 2021, so if Chelsea were to make a move they would have to stump up a hefty amount of cash.

The talented star is certainly one to keep an eye on for Sarri if Morata and Giroud continue to misfire.
