According to Goal.com, Sevilla are interested in signing Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.

What's the story?

Batshuayi was one of a number of Chelsea players heavily criticised following the team's 0-0 draw with Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The Belgium international was given the chance to lead the line against the Championship club, but he struggled badly before eventually being replaced by Alvaro Morata.

It is understood that Batshuayi is fed up with his lack of action at Stamford Bridge, and according to Goal.com, Sevilla want to bring the striker to the Estadio Ramon on a six-month loan deal.

Sevilla are reportedly not the only club in the hunt, but the Spanish outfit are said to lead the race as they look to complete a deal before the end of the January window.

What has happened to Batshuayi at Chelsea?

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea off the back of a 23-goal season with Marseille, and he actually managed a respectable nine goals in 28 appearances in all competitions last term.

The Belgian, who is valued at £22.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has seven goals in all competitions this season, but has only started two Premier League matches during the 2017-18 campaign.

Two goals in four Champions League appearances, and two in just two Premier League starts suggest that Batshuayi has plenty to offer Chelsea.

The summer signing of Alvaro Morata has made it difficult for the forward to secure regular action, however, and he will be wary of his situation with the Premier League champions ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Batshuayi could still go on to have a successful career with Chelsea, but he desperately needs regular football in the second half of this season, and a loan move to Spain might be just what the doctor ordered.
