According to Don Balon, Chelsea could move for Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling if Eden Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

What's the story?

Hazard's future at Chelsea is far from secure amid suggestions that Real Madrid are prepared to pay more than £100m to sign the Belgium international at the end of the current campaign.

Chelsea's problems in recent weeks have reportedly led to claims that Hazard is seriously considering his future as he weighs up a move to Spain.

According to Don Balon, Chelsea will launch an ambitious move for Sterling if they lose Hazard, and the Blues are prepared to break the bank to sign the England international.

It would be a stunning move if Chelsea could pull it off, and whilst Sterling is undoubtedly happy in Manchester, the chance to return to London could be a big drawer for the attacker.

Citizens boss Pep Guardiola would certainly fight tooth and nail to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but stranger things have happened.

How has Sterling performed this season?

Sterling has been absolutely outstanding for table-topping Man City this season. Not many believed that the winger had the potential to be a star player for a top European club, but that has indeed occurred during the 2017-18 campaign.

Indeed, the Englishman has scored 19 times and registered 10 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for City this term.

Sterling, who is valued at £72m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has 14 goals and nine assists in 24 Premier League matches, whilst he netted four times in five Champions League group matches in 2017.

As a result, the attacker is expected to be a key player for England at the 2018 World Cup, and he will fancy his chances of entering that tournament as a Premier League winner.

Chelsea would have a lot to do when it comes to convincing Sterling to leave, but the Blues would have a healthy budget if Hazard decides to seek pastures new.
