Talksport reports that Borussia Dortmund want to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi on a permanent basis.

What’s the story?

According to Talksport, Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund are eager to sign Michy Batshuayi permanently. The 24-year-old is currently on loan with the German club, and he’s made a very purposeful start to life in Germany.

During his first three games with Dortmund, the Belgian striker scored a very commendable total of five goals. His fantastic start has seemingly impressed the Bundesliga team who are keen to sign the forward on a permanent basis.

However, Chelsea refused to include an option-to-buy in the striker’s loan move to Dortmund, which suggests that the Premier League club are unwilling to sell the forward.

Should Chelsea keep him?

Considering that the Blues paid a substantial fee to secure the services of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in the summer, and while factoring in the recent arrival of Olivier Giroud, one would sense that Batshuayi isn’t wanted at the London club.

Nonetheless, it would be nonsensical to sell the striker at this stage of his career. Despite hardly starting in the Premier League, the 24-year-old made an impressive contribution to the Blues when he was awarded the opportunities to impress.

In 53 games for Chelsea, the Belgium international scored a decent total of 19 goals. As previously mentioned, he has seized his chances at Dortmund with both hands, and no-one can refute his ability to score goals.

What happens next?

Chelsea should wait until the conclusion of his loan move with Borussia Dortmund to decide whether he should be re-integrated into the first-team, or if he needs more time on loan.

Whatever happens, the Blues have an exceedingly talented player at their disposal, and they would sincerely regret their decision if they were to sell forward.
