Incoming Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has told Chelsea that they can have Mario Gotze for £35million ahead of Liverpool, according to reports from the Sun.
Gotze has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena in recent weeks, with the attacking midfielder having struggled to play on the regular basis under Pep Guardiola this season.
However, even with Ancelotti replacing Guardiola at the Bayern helm, it is understood that Gotze will not be part of the club’s plans next term.
This has alerted Liverpool, among others, but Chelsea may have the upper hand due to the mutual respect between soon-to-be Blues manager Antonio Conte and Ancelotti.
The Bavarians have recently confirmed the £35million signing of Benfica wonderkid Renato Sanches, and it is believed that they want to sell Gotze for around the same price to cover their expenditure.
The 23-year-old has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.
