Chelsea's star man Eden Hazard has admitted that he will never replicate Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi's goalscoring records.

Hazard's lack of belief in his undoubted superstar quality will come as a shock to many, as the diminutive Belgian gives off an assured confidence (especially when he is stroking home a penalty) suggesting that he is good enough to be challenging the world's best for Ballon d'Or Also many have said, including his manager Jose Mourinho, that he is actually better than Ronaldo.

Nevertheless, Hazard has perhaps rightly admitted he won't replicate the scoring abilities of Messi andCR7, but that is not to say he can't be as mesmerisingly good as the duo.

Focusing on the goalscoring, Hazard netted 19 times in 52 games for Chelsea last season, his best return for the club which went a long way to helping him win the PFA Player of the Year crown. However, that tally is well short of Ronaldo's 61 goals and Messi's 58.

This season has not started so brightly for the ex-Lille man, who has admitted that is "not in him" to become a 50-goal-a season forward like Messi and Ronaldo.

"I ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo, and score 50 or 60 goals in a season," Hazard said in an interview with Sport/Foot Magazine in Belgium.

"I try but I realise that I will never be a true scorer. It is not in me. It is mainly mental.

"Sometimes I still think after a goal, 'that's enough'."

Perhaps that is a problem for Hazard, and maybe the content feeling he gets after scoring is the reason why he won't reach the ridiculous scoring rates of Messi and Ronaldo.

However I think it could be argued that it is a good thing about Hazard, that he is well aware of his limitations. He knows that it isn't possible for him to replicate the goalscoring exploits of Messi and Ronaldo, so he isn't going to expect or push himself towards doing that.

He has other qualities. As he eluded to himself he isn't just about goals, he creates far more than Ronaldo and as much as Messi. Goals are just a side aspect of the Belgian's game.

He isn't putting any undue pressure on his shoulders to double, even triple, his scoring rate. Instead he is being realistic by saying: "I'm not in search of records like some other players. If I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy."

This is the perfect mentality to have, he knows his limitations but still wants to grow and improve as a player but won't pressurise himself to be like "other players" instead he is being Eden Hazard and by all accounts if last season is anything to go by it isn't a bad player to be at all.
