“Just a minor hiccup” – Chelsea supporters offer words of encouragement to injured star

Chelsea fans have flocked to Twitter to offer words of encouragement for Ruben Loftus-Cheek after the midfielder suffered a devastating achilles tendon rupture against the New England Revolution in Boston.

Loftus-Cheek left the Gillette Stadium on crutches after being forced off in the 68th minute and Chelsea’s worst fears were realised when a scan displayed the severity of the damage.

The Chelsea youth product issued a powerful message to Blues supporters on his Twitter account after undergoing successful surgery on his return to London.

After suffering from back injuries throughout the season, Loftus-Cheek began to establish himself as a regular in Maurizio Sarri’s side, appearing in each of the club’s last 15 Premier League matches.

Loftus-Cheek is Chelsea’s fourth-highest scorer this season with ten goals in all competitions, but the Blues will now be forced to face Arsenal in the Europa League final without their influential central midfielder.

The 23-year-old joins fellow academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi on the sidelines, also with a severe achilles tear, but Chelsea supporters are confident that their rising star will be back to his best.

Here’s a look below at how Chelsea fans responded to Loftus-Cheek’s message on Twitter…
