Lampard targeted by Italian duo

Chelsea midfielder Frank LampardSerie A’s Inter Milan and Lazio have entered the race to sign Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The England international midfielder who currently has six months left to run on his contract has caught the eye of the Italian clubs as they look to strengthen their teams during the January transfer window.

It is believed that Massimo Moratti – Inter’s President – is keen to see Lampard at the San Siro as the Nerazzurri endeavour to make up an eight-point gap between them and leaders Juventus.

Speaking about his future, the player cryptically stated: “I just hope personally for me, it means I will be playing in a winning team.

“I will keep trying to give my best as I’ve always done when here and will continue to do so,” he continued.

Lampard acknowledged the recent avalanche of speculation relating to his future in the Premier League as his contract gradually flits away, before stating that his intention is simply to play football.

“I know there’s a lot of speculation and talk, but for me the enjoyable bit is the 90 minutes,” he added.

With little evidence that his England international career is in decline, and with Roy Hodgson set on keeping him in the squad for the 2014 World Cup, the 34-year-old will look to prolong his footballing career any way he can.
