Liverpool move could spark merry-go-round that may cost Chelsea key man

Liverpool’s potential move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen could result in Chelsea‘s Thibaut Courtois moving to the Nou Camp, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.

The Reds are thought to be one of the leading candidates for the Germany international’s signature this summer, with suggestions that a contract offer worth over £100,000-per-week is being prepared on Merseyside for the European champion.

Ter Stegen, although the Catalans’ ‘Cup goalie’ is still considered to be a key man in the La Liga holders’ ranks, and reports claim that should they lose him they’ll move for a top class replacement, with Courtois their main target.

The Belgian has been a massive hit at Chelsea since returning to west London from a three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid, successfully ousting Petr Cech to become the Blues’ No.1, before starring in the Premier League title-winning 2014/15 campaign.

However, there have been suggestions that the looming lack of Champions League action at Chelsea next season may be enough to force Courtois to look elsewhere, and Barca can offer guaranteed top level European football alongside regular pushes for major silverware.
