London rivals launch approach for monolithic Chelsea ace

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace have enquired into the availability of Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic regarding a potential loan move.

The Bosnian international signed for the former Premier League champions last summer following six campaigns at Stoke City that saw him twice claim the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award.

The 6 foot 6 shot-stopper impressed when called upon last season, making 25 appearances across all competitions, but is still regarded as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy at Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace are undergoing a bit of a goalkeeping reshuffle this summer. Whilst Wayne Hennessy and club icon Julian Speroni are being kept on, Steve Mandanda has arrived from Marseille on a free transfer and Alex McCarthy is on the verge of a £2million move to Southampton.

And The Daily Mail claim that the South London side have asked about taking Begovic on a season-long loan, although when the enquiry was made and whether Chelsea produced any official response remains unconfirmed.
