Manchester City and Chelsea have been told that only a crazy offer will be good enough to land Napoli star Edinson Cavani.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, has also warned that even if the big clubs come in with a big offer, the Uruguayan may choose to stay in Naples.
“Cavani knows that in Napoli he is loved and well respected,” De Laurentiis said.
“But it’s obvious that being followed by one of the world’s most important clubs, he might be attracted to it. If we received a crazy €70m offer, we would listen to it. Although the final decision is up to the player.”
Cavani has been in prolific form since joining Napoli and with 69 goals in 96 Serie A appearances and nearing 30 goals already this season, the Uruguayan is in high demand.
City are looking to rebuild after a poor Premier League title defence with the title all but secured by rivals Manchester United.
While Chelsea have stumbled this season – being knocked out of the group stages in the Champions League and embroiled in a battle to finish in the top four – they will also need to reinvest if they want to be serious title contenders next season.
