Chelsea fans tease rivals after Olivier Giroud rubs salt in Gunners’ wounds

Chelsea fans on Twitter have ruthlessly mocked Arsenal after Olivier Giroud professed his love for the Blues in the wake of the club’s stunning Europa League final victory.

The French striker notched Chelsea’s first goal shortly after the half-time interval before turning provider for Eden Hazard’s second effort of the night to help carry his side to Europa League glory.

The World Cup winner joined Chelsea in January 2018 after being deemed surplus to requirements at Arsenal and has shone in his side’s Europa League quest this season, leading the competition with 11 goals.

Despite a muted celebration for his goal, Giroud didn’t hold back about his newfound affections when speaking to ChelseaTV following the Baku showcase.

“It was an improvement going from Arsenal to Chelsea and I knew I would have the opportunity to win some more trophies. ‘To win this Europa League one year after winning the World Cup is great for me,” he said.

“I’m a Blue, a proper Blue. It’s a new chapter of my career and it was very special to score. I am so proud of this team,” Giroud added.

The Europa League hero follows a long line of successful defectors from the Emirates to Stamford Bridge with Ashley Cole and Cesc Fabregas also finding glory after joining the ranks in west London.

If thrashing their local rivals was the perfect end to a turbulent season, then Giroud’s comments were the cherry on top and Chelsea fans grabbed the opportunity to mock Unai Emery’s troubled team.
