Mata looking to defend Champions League crown

Chelsea attacker Juan Mata has stated that his side believe they can retain their Champions League crown.

The Blues were crowned European champions after beating Bayern Munich on penalties in last year’s final, and after a 4-0 win against Danish champions Nordsjaelland on Tuesday night the Spaniard is in confident mood.

“Last year we won the Champions League and FA Cup, playing as we played,” The Telegraph quote Mata as saying.

“Now I think we can do it better playing even better with Oscar, Hazard or whoever.

“All we can do is try to play our best but that is what we are doing. I want to improve. I feel I can still do better.

“I think we’re playing like a mature team.

“Maybe in Denmark it wasn’t the best game but we won 4-0. That’s the sign of a mature team.

“It is a lot of fun to play in this shape, to play with players who like to play with the ball, quality players,” he concluded.

Chelsea take on Norwich at home on Saturday and will look to retain their place on top of the Premier League.
