After an abysmal campaign last year, where the Blues conceded their Premier League crown without so much as a whimper, Chelsea have returned with a bang this season and have been revitalised under the guidance of Antonio Conte.
Securing top-spot for Christmas and winning their last eleven matches in the league, Chelsea have looked unstoppable this season but Nemanja Matic has suggested that the Blues are haunted by their struggles this season.
“We have tried to forget last season. I forgot very quickly the season we were champions because in football every day is a different challenge, every day a new story. No-one asks what happened before. The present and the future are the most important things – which is just as well for us, because last year was not good.”
“Eleven games ago, we were eight points behind Manchester City, but now we are out in front of them. That’s why everyone loves football – because anything can happen.”
Now just two games shy of the all-time Premier League record for consecutive victories, set by Arsenal in the 2001/02 season, Chelsea are looking unstoppable and Antonio Conte looks set to reap the rewards in May.
