Morata will come good at Chelsea now Giroud can share goalscoring burden

Alvaro Morata is a target for former club Juventus after just one season in the Premier League with Chelsea as the Italian giants seek to replace the departing Mario Mandzukic, according to Sky Sports.

Morata has struggled to replace the goals scored by Diego Costa in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge but the arrival of Olivier Giroud, as well as the returns of loanees Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi, will help ease the pressure on the frontman and he should shine next season, so Chelsea should keep him around.

What’s the story, then?

The report states that Juve are keen on a reunion with the man valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt after just one season away from Turin.

It goes on to say that the Italian giants are in the market for a frontman as Croatian target man Mandzukic is expected to depart the club this summer.

Morata should come good

There is no getting away from the fact that Morata has struggled to deal with the expectation of being the main man this season, as well as the burden of scoring goals in a faltering team.

He has been trusted to be the Costa figure, the undoubted number one striker and for someone with such a shy personality, it has been a problem.

However, Chelsea should have four strikers, including the vastly experienced Giroud, available to choose from next season and that variety should help Morata unlock his true potential, slightly outside the glare of being the main man.
