We’ve already discussed this week how N’Golo Kante’s change in role at Chelsea has not effected his ability to dominate midfields in the Premier League.
How is that translating to his team’s overall form? Has his ability in midfield been inspiring his side to victory whether at Leicester or Chelsea?
This latest stat from Sky Sports would certainly suggest so.
They’ve tallied the points every player in the Premier League has won over the last two seasons and Kante is head and shoulders above the rest.
Incredibly, Chelsea’s midfielder has been part of sides that have amassed 120 points since the start of last season – 80 with Leicester and 40 with Chelsea.
That’s well ahead of Nacho Monreal in second place, one of a host of Arsenal players who make up the rest of the top 5.
Kante may fly under the radar in comparison to headline grabbing performances from the likes of Diego Costa, but that hasn’t stopped the midfielder becoming a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
Like his time at Leicester, it’s perhaps taken time for fans to fully appreciate his influence. Now he’s gathering plaudits and 2017 is set to be another massive year for the French international.
Many Chelsea fans have been taking to Twitter to share their love for the midfielder, most notably after the midweek win against Sunderland.
Watching Kante play football makes me so happy, brilliant positioning and reading of the game #Dependable
