“Not yet Chelsea quality” – Blues fans not convinced by talented midfielder’s poor display at Wembley

Chelsea fans on Twitter have advocated against the return of Mason Mount after the midfielder’s disappointing display in the Championship playoff final against Aston Villa at Wembley on Monday.

A fine season for Mount under Frank Lampard has seen the English youngster score eight goals and provide five assists while being touted for a place in the Chelsea first team as early as next season.

However, the 20-year old’s excellent season ended in heartbreak as the Rams were defeated 2-1 by Aston Villa to miss out on Premier League promotion with Mount playing a peripheral role.

The playoff final clash featured a number of Chelsea links with John Terry and Tammy Abraham on the Villa side and Fikayo Tomori, Mount, Ashley Cole, Lampard, and Jody Morris representing Derby.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is out for the foreseeable future due to a ruptured achilles tendon so there could be an opening in the Chelsea midfield, but many Blues supporters feel that Mount is not yet ready after watching his tame display at Wembley.
