Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been lauded for his commanding midweek display against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.

The Brazilian playmaker entered the fray as a second half substitute and made a real impact as his side managed to haul themselves towards a 5-4 victory.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp was quick to lavish praise on the 21-year-old  who arrived for a £25 million fee this summer from Internacional.

“I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching Oscar. When he first joined I hoped he was going to be a good player as there is nothing of him," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“He looks seven stone wet through, but he makes things happen - and the game look easy. It's effortless the way he glides around the pitch, he's like a young Kaka.”

Chelsea have invested over £80 million in freshening up their squad and trying to bring through some younger talent with Victor Moses also featuring on Wednesday.

The former Wigan ace also moved to Chelsea in the summer spending spree, and has yet to have many opportunities to impress his new employers, but did manage to win a penalty in the first half, following a foul from Manchester United’s full back Alexander Buttner.

Redknapp also went on to compliment Moses calling him a “defender’s nightmare”.

The performance on Wednesday night helped Chelsea secure a quarter final place, and a trip to Elland Road against Leeds United in the next round.
